Distributed Multi-Stream Architecture
Panopto is a software-based application. Its architecture distributes its capturing, editing, streaming and archiving processes across any number of endpoints, eliminating single points of failure and reducing the cost for scaling up system capacity. Panopto can record multiple streams simultaneously from one computer – including streams originating from your camera, microphone, screen or computer.
Integrated Search
Going beyond simple capture, streaming and archival, Panopto was designed from inception to fully incorporate search metadata among PowerPoint slides, presentation notes and more. And since metadata is captured across all recorded content within one’s media library, users can search at any granularity – including personal notes, specific recording sessions or the entire institutional knowledge base.

Designed with the end user in mind, Panopto simplifies content editing so that even those unfamiliar with video editing tools can modify recordings with ease. Standards-Based Architecture
Understanding the restrictive costs of proprietary systems that depend on expensive custom hardware, Panopto uses off-the-shelf PC and camera hardware, and stores captured content in industry-standard formats (e.g., MP3, MP4, etc.).
