Panopto selected by the University of Hull as its lecture capture and video content management partner

JUNE 30, 2016 — Panopto, a video platform provider for businesses and universities, today announced that its lecture capture and video content management software has been selected by the University of Hull to enhance the institution’s teaching and learning activities.

With more than 16,300 students, the University of Hull plans to offer on-demand video to all of its learners in a phased roll-out of Panopto. This will enable academics to choose to record lectures, produce flipped classroom videos or produce video feedback on student work and enable students to submit their own video assignments.

Panopto has been awarded a five-year contract by the university following a comprehensive tender process during which responses from three different video platform providers were reviewed.

“As an institution, we aim to put students at the heart of everything we do,” said Chris Turnock, Head of Technology Enhanced Learning at the University of Hull. “To support this goal, we wanted to select a video solution that would have the greatest impact on the student learning experience. Having fully assessed the capabilities of several products during our formal tender process, Panopto was the clear choice based on its ease of use and integration with our Canvas virtual learning environment.”

“We’re delighted to be working with the University of Hull on bringing video to their teaching and learning activities,” said Peter Ingle, General Manager, Panopto EMEA. “From our work with hundreds of universities, colleges and schools globally, we know that introducing video as a complement to face-to-face learning can have a big impact on student engagement. We’re looking forward to a successful rollout of Panopto to all of the institution’s students and staff.”
