Panopto Announces Migration Program for Echo360 Customers
Conversion tool, professional services, and financial incentives enable Echo360 customers to switch to a modern, scalable video platform with industry-leading customer support.
SEATTLE, June 29, 2016 – Panopto today announced a video platform migration program for Echo360 customers. As part of the announcement, Panopto is launching an Echo360 content conversion tool and professional services to assist customers with their transition.
Content Conversion Tool
In recent years, the use of video within academic institutions has skyrocketed, as lecture capture and the flipped classroom pedagogy have become central to student learning. In order to manage video at campus-wide scale, colleges and universities have been rapidly transitioning from hardware-based lecture capture systems to more flexible software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions. In response to this growing demand, Panopto has developed a migration tool that converts Echo360 recordings and automatically uploads the converted content into a new Panopto video library.
The conversion process maintains the fidelity of the presenter video, additional video feeds, slide presentations, captions, and edits, along with video metadata and captions. Once converted, recordings are indexed for search using Panopto’s unique Smart Search technology and encoded for optimal playback on any device.
All converted videos are managed, edited, and streamed using Panopto’s industry-leading video content management system. Video content can also be integrated with customers’ existing learning management systems, websites, and content management systems.
Professional Migration Services
As part of today’s announcement, Panopto is launching professional services to assist Echo360 customers with their transition to Panopto. The services include conversion of existing Echo360 video files, integrity validation of the converted files, and where possible, provisioning of existing users, folder structures, and metadata within Panopto.
Financial Incentives
Panopto is also offering a limited-time promotion to Echo360 customers. For universities who commit to migration before September 30, 2016, Panopto will waive the $3,000 professional services flat fee. In addition, customers transitioning to Panopto’s cloud-hosted video platform will receive 1,000 hours of Echo360 video conversion at no cost.
