Panopto Adds SCORM Conformance to All of its Products
All new and existing presentations captured with Panopto Focus or published with Panopto Unison will conform to the latest SCORM standards
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Panopto Inc. announced today that its award-winning presentation capture and management software is now compatible with SCORM-compliant learning management systems, dramatically increasing the portability of Panopto content and adding course completion-tracking capability.
The latest release of the Panopto Platform features custom LMS integrations for Moodle, Blackboard, Angel, and WebCT (with more to come), but the introduction of SCORM into the platform gives all Panopto users immediate interoperability with any SCORM conformant LMS.
What is SCORM? SCORM is an acronym for Shareable Content Object Reference Model, which means a set of standards (Reference Model) for the management of eLearning content (Sharable Content Objects). SCORM standards govern how eLearning content is packaged and delivered, ensuring that conforming content can be imported into an LMS and automatically recognized as a new course. The new course can then be launched from the LMS without any additional user input required. Panopto’s new SCORM capability allows users to access and view Pancasts directly from their LMS, delivering rich media courses with all of the premium features of the Panopto viewer. Users can experience keyword-searchable HD video, DVR-style playback, seamless integration between video, PowerPoint, screen capture, electronic whiteboards, and more, and the ability to attach their own searchable digital notes to any presentation—all launched from the familiar interface of their own LMS. SCORM runtime standards also allow for advanced tracking metrics and reporting from Panopto directly to the LMS.
Panopto supports both SCORM 1.2 and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th editions of SCORM 2004.
