Panopto and Ramp Announce Enterprise Video Partnership

Product interoperability and joint go-to-market strategy provide businesses and universities with new options for video content management and delivery

Seattle and Boston—September 21, 2016 — Panopto and Ramp today announced a strategic partnership aimed at providing businesses and universities with new ways to optimize the streaming of video to large, geographically-distributed audiences. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will certify the interoperability of Panopto’s video platform with Ramp’s enterprise content delivery network, AltitudeCDN, and will engage in joint marketing and selling efforts.

Demand for live and on-demand video is surging among businesses and universities. As these organizations increasingly rely on video for online communication and learning, it has become critical for video streams to start quickly and remain stable, while minimizing costs and the use of network bandwidth.

To meet these growing demands, Panopto and Ramp are working together to certify interoperability between Panopto’s video content management system (VCMS) and Ramp’s ECDN solutions, AltitudeCDN™ Multicast+ and OmniCache™. The integrated solution is entirely software-based, minimizing deployment time and costs. It is compatible with Panopto’s cloud-hosted and on-premises video platform offerings.

For organizations implementing a staged rollout of unicast-based WAN optimization, Panopto’s integration with AltitudeCDN OmniCache reduces WAN traffic generated by frequently-viewed, on-demand videos and large live events. For customers who have invested in multicast network architecture, the combination of Panopto and AltitudeCDN Multicast+ dramatically reduces network bandwidth consumption while using industry standard video codecs (H.264), protocols (HLS), and HTML5-based players.

“In the last year, Ramp has led the industry in WAN optimization and enterprise video delivery innovation with the release of AltitudeCDN Multicast+ and OmniCache,” said Tom Racca, CEO of Ramp. “With AltitudeCDN, we provide a secure, scalable, easy-to-deploy solution that requires no investment in network upgrades. Now through our partnership with Panopto, we’re able to offer businesses and universities an integrated solution that combines best-in-class video content management and delivery.”

“Enterprise video platforms should adapt to the needs of any organization’s network topology,” said Eric Burns, co-founder and CEO of Panopto. “With today’s announcement, Panopto offers customers the widest range of network optimization options, from edge caching and integration with traditional WAN op appliances, to software-based P2P and standards-based multicast. We’re excited to collaborate with Ramp and provide our customers with innovative solutions for efficient video streaming.”
